The Kitchen & Bath Industry Show

When one of the most impressive trade shows in your industry takes place in Las Vegas, how could you not go?! For the second year in a row the entire Beyond Beige team traveled south to KBIS 2016. We spent two full days exploring the most beautiful, high quality, and innovative products design has to offer. We were excited by shower systems, lavatory basins, and doors. But since those integral home products aren't as visually stunning to show you, here are some the most standout, gorgeous vignettes we toured.

Above are two playful kitchen ranges from La Cornue. Feminine and vintage, even actress Dianna Agron has one!

KBIS 2016 - 2

Then there was Metrie. I believe WOW is the operative word. Above are only three of Metrie's Interior Designed vignettes. Each nook showcased a different line of their mill work.

KBIS 2016 - 3

Always a must at the show, Ann Sacks. This year the tile heavy weight showcased their new product designed by none other than Kelly Wearstler. Geometric and dramatic. Sure to add drama to any space. Side note, we're really loving a pattern on the floor.

KBIS 2016 - 4

Lastly, back to Metrie. Because these chandeliers were begging for their own showcase. The one of the right is a go to of ours. But the one on left, left us in awe. We can't wait for the perfect space to use it in.

This trip always leaves us inspired and excited to get back to work. We're already looking forward to next year!

Northwest Design Award Winners

We are very excited to announce, belatedly, that we have won two 2015 Northwest Design Awards! Every year the Seattle Design Center hosts the awards to reward outstanding interior design. The location of entrants span from California to Alaska, acknowledging both American and Canadian talent. Last year our whole team ventured to Seattle together to accept our award, and regard it has one of our team's best memories. Unfortunately no ceremony was held this year, but winning these two awards isn't any less of a thrill. The categories we were recognized in are Best Bathroom, for Hamilton's Master Ensuite. As well as Best Individual Room - Traditional, for Senior Designer Lindsay's project Piccadilly Rd. The talent displayed at the Northwest Design Awards is always inspiring and we are incredibly honoured to be in their company. We can't wait to return next year!

Our Client Process

For quite some time I have wanted to create a video outlining our client process - and we finally have! Many people find hiring an Interior Designer an overwhelming task filled with unfamiliarity. My desire with this video was to walk you through our three stage process; from the conception of a project to completion. This process begins with the planning phase, then moves in to the interior design phase, and then finishes with the construction phase. The experience is really not as scary as you may think!

To help you understand our process better, you can watch our client process video on our Youtube channel, read in detail about our process on What We Do page of our website, or contact the Beyond Beige office for more information.

We wish her all the best in her new opportunity.

Luxury Home & Design Show

From May 1st through May 3rd our team was at the Vancouver Convention Centre for the Luxury Home & Design Show. Put on by Taste of Life Magazine, this home show pairs designers, builders, and manufacturers to create luxurious spaces. Beyond Beige was teamed up with Grohe, Europe's largest manufacturer of plumbing fixtures. Grohe's desire was to create a master ensuite perfect for their new line inspired by Paris. To say we were excited by their vision would be a massive understatement! Immediately we were abuzz with elements we were eager to include.

Some of the elements that made the cut: a patterned tile floor, wall paneling, a mirrored soaker tub, marble surfaces, and white vanities. Oh, and even a faux Paris skyline seen out of the Juliet doors! Our team feels so honoured to have been selected to participate in such an incredible event. Grohe's execution of our vision was perfect. We can't wait to see what the designers next year create!

More images of the event can be found on our various social media accounts.

The Kitchen & Bath Industry Show

The second stop for our team in Las Vegas was KBIS, The Kitchen & Bath Industry Show. All of us were beyond excited to finally see the product we look at online, in person, and discover products that we never knew existed. It's one thing to admire a plumbing fixture's finish and aesthetic. But a completely different thing to have it connected to water and see it functioning. Kohler's section of the trade show was by far the best. From the sheer size of the space, to the lighting, and set up of their products, they created an experience that stood out. Within the Kohler area was our favourite, Ann Saks. Their metallic tiled bar was my first WOW moment of the entire show. Both their new tile and Kallista plumbing line were incredible.

One of our other favourite stops was the Houzz space. They had a great interactive area set up with computers so that professionals at the event could receive advice right there on the spot. Such a clever idea! Some of our other favourite moments were the new stone from Cambria, the RCH Elegance door and cabinet hardware, and the Walker Zanger tile. Altogether the team learned about so many new products we can't wait to use in our projects!

The Las Vegas Furniture Market

This past January our entire team traveled to Las Vegas for The Las Vegas Furniture Market as well as The Kitchen & Bath Industry Show. Twice a year a few of our staff go to learn all about the new products available, but this was the first time our team got to experience it together. As we expected, some of our favourite companies did not disappoint. The Visual Comfort lighting was stunning. Our team could not get enough of Kelly Wearstler or Ralph Lauren's lines. In particular a Ralph Lauren over-sized chandelier made of antlers and crystals. If you have never laid eyes on one before, it is definitely worth a Google! Our designers who love the bohemian aesthetic couldn't wait to get to Ro Sham Beaux showroom. Since our return, they have already chosen a few of their beaded shabby chic light fixtures for some two of our current projects.

Some of the most prominent trends we noticed were rustic wood and rose gold. At previous shows we had seen quite a bit of rustic wood but in the past metals have trended towards gold and copper; so the presence of so much rose gold was interesting. We noticed these touches of rose gold not only in lighting but furniture too. We're not quite sure we're a fan of it, but maybe it will grow on us.

The show was full of so many talented people in our industry from all over the world. We saw a lot of beautiful products, met some fantastic suppliers, and gained more product knowledge. All in all it was a fun and informative trip we can't wait to make again!
