A MODERN RURAL SANCTUARY IN LANGLEY, BC
New House on Old Town Road
From Downtown to the Range The "New House on Old Town Road" was born from a desire for a lifestyle shift. Our clients sought to trade the fast-paced energy of downtown Vancouver for a sprawling, rural setting with ample space for their family and horses in Langley, British Columbia. However, the goal was not a traditional farmhouse; they required a sophisticated new build that maintained modern amenities while embracing the rugged beauty of the outdoors.
One of the most unique challenges of this project was designing for a client standing 6’9”. To ensure every room felt proportional and comfortable, Beyond Beige customized the scale of the home, from counter heights to doorway clearances, ensuring the space was perfectly tailored to the family’s physical needs without losing its aesthetic balance.
The interior reflects a "nothing is delicate" philosophy. A standout feature is the master suite bathroom, where we collaborated with a specialty stonemason to create authentic stone walls. This required intricate technical planning to seamlessly integrate high-end plumbing directly into the masonry, resulting in a bathroom that feels like a natural extension of the landscape.
We prioritized locally sourced and durable materials to bring a sense of warmth to the modern architecture. Custom Millwork: The kitchen features handcrafted, lime washed rift cut oak cabinetry. Living Surfaces: The island is topped with a unique soapstone featuring a rare spectrum of greens, browns, and rusts that mirror the local forest. Reclaimed Elements: We integrated reclaimed wood throughout the entry ceilings and primary bathroom walls to provide an immediate sense of history and "lived-in" comfort.
